Each of our six clinical divisional champion awards recognise individuals and teams that consistently demonstrate exceptional commitment to patient-centred care, through empathy, communication and respect. They collaborate with colleagues, innovate for improvement and put their patients at the heart of all they do. Here’s what their colleagues wrote about them in the nominations.
Becky's passion for her work and women's health is evident in the way she goes above and beyond for her patients. She is dedicated and determined to achieve the best outcomes, tirelessly advocating for those in her care.
She has a friendly, caring, and professional demeanour and her optimistic and forward-thinking attitude is a source of inspiration for everyone she works with. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and regularly delivers teaching sessions to the team.
Becky possesses excellent leadership skills and is an excellent practitioner who consistently delivers a high standard of safe care while embracing new ideas to improve care and practice efficiently, effectively and professionally.
She is a delight to work with, a bright, welcoming, energetic, empathetic and caring person. Her natural ability and willingness to put her patients and team first is evident on a daily basis.
Becky is an excellent example of a nurse who lives by our Trust Values and Behaviours.
Jo is always available as a source of expert advice for all staff and no question is a problem, she does all of this with a sense of humour and kindness which is so appreciated by all she works with.
Jo runs a small team of sonographers who provide all of the antenatal sonography service within the maternity department. That’s approximately 18,000 ultrasound examinations required for the women receiving maternity care each year. She ensures that all of these scans meet the highest possible standards within the required time frame meeting national screening guidance.
She provides training for students supporting them to gain understanding of scans and provide safe care and she’s been a key part of the team supporting the upgrade of the Trust’s obstetric sonography software.
Jo is completely unflappable, her service is always under pressure but she keeps calm and carries on keeping the clinical care of women at the heart of everything she does.
Vicki works alongside medical colleagues with the families of vulnerable young people in our hospital. She improves their experience with us. She offers practical support, reassurance and a broad focus on care with innovative suggestions to support families.
Vicki works across boundaries, liaising with colleagues, carers and professionals in and out of the Trust promoting smooth transitions for children and young people (CYP) with learning disabilities and autism, who often find coming to the hospital a difficult experience.
She supports her medical and nursing colleagues by being present in appointments that these CYP find very challenging, often re-arranging the rooms and bringing distraction aids to help calm them. This allows for meaningful conversations to take place and makes the child and their family confident that Royal Surrey understands their challenges by offering reasonable adjustments.
