Living with and beyond cancer

After completing treatment you will be regularly monitored by your oncologist or surgeon at set intervals. For low grade cancers this could be annually. For higher grade cancers you may be seen every two-to-three months. Your monitoring may involve a neck examination carried out by a doctor or specialist nurse and/or with blood tests. You may also need to undergo scanning, including ultrasounds of the neck and other imaging such as CT scans.

You will have a contact number for your specialist nurse and the consultant’s secretaries, so if you have any concerns outside of these scheduled appointments you can access help.
