Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance

Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance works in partnership with NHS organisations, local authorities, voluntary and community groups and patients to improve cancer services and outcomes for the populations of Surrey, Sussex and Frimley – that is a population of 3.83 million people.
From rolling out Targeted Lung Health Checks across our footprint to increasing the number of Holistic Needs Assessments* being given to patients, the cancer alliance leads the transformation of cancer care.
It works closely with GP practices and hospital trusts to improve cancer pathways for patients. Together they are continually working towards meeting the national cancer waiting time standards for cancer diagnosis and treatment.
In collaboration with its partners, and through the process of co-production, the cancer alliance seeks to:
  • ·       Reduce variation and inequalities in the delivery of cancer services across Frimley, Surrey and Sussex
  • ·       Improve accessibility of cancer services
  • ·       Improve survivorship and outcomes for patients diagnosed with a cancer
  • ·       Ensure patients have a personalised plan for their cancer treatment and recovery
  • ·       Share best practice, innovation, and learning

As part of its improvement work, the cancer alliance invests in people, providing funding for healthcare professionals such as cancer specialist nurses, dietitians, support workers and radiographers. This funding supports local teams to implement change and improve cancer services.
Some of the achievements in cancer improvement can be found in the Cancer Alliance’s Annual Review . While the main purpose of the cancer alliance’s website is to act as a resource hub for healthcare professionals, patients can also find information to support them and their loved ones. The Patient and Public section of the website includes translated cancer information plus a range of health and wellbeing videos providing top tips for cancer patients across the region.
Royal Surrey is proud to be a partner of Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance and our Chief Executive, Louise Stead, currently acts as the Cancer Alliance's chair.
