Patient speaking to radiologist

Appointments

Appointments will be conducted either face-to-face or via telephone.

Diagnostic phase

You will be seen by either or both the respiratory doctor and lung cancer clinical nurse specialist (CNS).

Thoracic clinic

You will be seen by both the consultant and the lung cancer CNS. All lung surgery is conducted at St George’s Hospital in London, which is a designated specialist centre for the region. However, your initial consultation and follow ups will take place at Royal Surrey Cancer Centre.

Oncology clinic

You will be seen by either the consultant and/or the Lung Cancer CNS. If and when you begin your treatment (chemotherapy/immunotherapy/targeted therapy) you will have an appointment with the lung cancer CNS to go through your treatment in more depth and discuss any issues you might be concerned about. Your CNS will also be able to refer you to any other appropriate services, such as our dietitians.

The team will provide you with a pack containing information about your treatment, as well as important contact numbers.

If you are receiving oral chemotherapy, you will have an additional appointment with pharmacy to collect your first cycle of treatment. They will go over your current medication and your new treatment, as well as answer any questions you may have.

If you are having radiotherapy then all information in regards to treatment will be provided by the radiotherapy team.
