When you finish treatment you will enter into a period of active surveillance. This may involve clinic appointments, cystoscopies and CT scans. The appointments will initially be at three monthly intervals, before the time between appointments is extended. This surveillance will continue for up to five years.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, please contact your clinical nurse specialist as they may require further investigation. The symptoms to look out for are:

  • Blood in your urine
  • Abdominal pain
  • Leg swelling

The symptoms may be a sign that you cancer has returned and will require some investigation.
