PET scan

Positron emission tomography (PET) scans produce detailed 3-dimensional images of the inside of the body. The images produced can clearly show the part of the body being investigated, including any abnormal areas, and highlight how well certain functions of the body are working.

Discover more about PET scans on the NHS website (opens in new tab).

PET scans are provided to our NHS patients by Alliance Medical. They are based on Surrey Research Park, which is a short distance from the hospital. Find out more about Alliance Medical (opens in new tab) here.

Once your scan is completed, the results will be sent to your doctor at Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, who will explain these to you.
