The Trust’s most recent cohort of overseas staff flew in from India and the Philippines to a warm reception at Royal Surrey Hospital on Thursday.
Sitting down to their welcome breakfast, the 20 new recruits from cohort 45 looked undaunted by their long hours of travelling and were enthusiastic about joining the Trust.
Ferdinand Hilerio II, a staff nurse from the Philippines, said: “I’m very pleased to be here and looking forward to learning a lot and meeting new people. Everyone has been really friendly. I’ve travelled here with my friend who worked in the same hospital back home, so that makes the move easier.”
Tom White, Director of HR, thanked the cohort who will be working across different departments including, medical, surgery, oncology, intensive care, cardiology, emergency care and theatres.
He said: “We are so, so excited that you’ve chosen to work here at Royal Surrey.
“We know that there will be a period of adjustment while you settle in but we’ll do everything we can to support you and make the process as simple and easy as possible. Sorry the weather isn’t warmer, but welcome and thank you for joining us.”
