Congratulations to Umesh Cheerassery, Associate Director of Nursing at Royal Surrey who met with King Charles III on His Majesty’s 75th birthday, at a reception for nurses and midwives working in the UK.
The event was held as part of the NHS’s 75 birthday celebrations.
Umesh said: “I was so honoured and proud to attend the Buckingham Palace reception hosted by His Majesty the King to recognise the contribution of international nurses and midwives. It was an amazing experience and, of course, a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
Umesh, who was joined by around 250 nurses and midwives at the event, qualified as a nurse in India before moving to the UK and joining Royal Surrey as a staff nurse in 2002.
He added: “I was thrilled to be at the palace. My family here in the UK, as well as my family in India are extremely proud of my achievement.
“It’s a real privilege to work with Royal Surrey colleagues from all over the world and yesterday was a tribute to that. I am very grateful for the support and guidance from the Royal Surrey Team, and I consider Royal Surrey to be my second home.”
