Congratulations to a dynamic Trust team, led by Consultant Anaesthetist Dr Harsh Saxena, which has been shortlisted for a second Health Service Journal Award 2023 in the space of six months.
The team, which included Michelle Dudley, Pre-op Assessment Team leader, and Rebecca Tucker, Lead Pre-Assessment Sister, worked with Definition Health to introduce a digital tool that helps patients complete part of their pre-op assessments at home.
The team won Best Elective Care Recovery Initiative in the HSJ Partnership Awards, held earlier in the year, and has now been put forward for the main HSJ Awards in a record-breaking year for entries.
Using the LifeBox digital tool, the team builds an interactive patient summary ahead of a procedure. LifeBox allows secure two-way file sharing between our Trust and the patient for test results, fasting advice and useful information designed to reassure and inform patients.
Dr Harsh Saxena said: “LifeBox helps empower patients and involves them more fully in their own care, making sure that there is a smooth admission ahead of a surgical procedure. It also reduces unnecessary hospital visits and lessens the stress for patients.”
He added: “As a result of winning the HSJ Partnership Award, we’ve been able to raise the profile of our pre-assessment department within the Trust and we’re keen to build on this success.
“One of the team’s aims is to improve our current outpatients’ facilities to further benefit patient experience and satisfaction.”
Winners of the HSJ Awards 2023 will be announced at a ceremony taking place in London on 16 November. Good luck team!
