Mask wearing in our Trust

Due to a decrease in Covid-19 infections in our Trust and in our wider local community we have now changed our guidance around mask wearing. Masks are now optional for staff and visitors in clinical and non-clinical areas in our hospitals.

As mask wearing is now optional, patients may be treated by Royal Surrey staff who have chosen not to wear a mask. The new guidance also means that you as a patient have a choice about mask wearing in our hospitals.

Staff will still be required to wear surgical masks in some circumstances as per the rules before the Covid-19 pandemic, for example when treating patients with respiratory illnesses such as Covid-19.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will review these guidelines if there are significant changes in the rate of Covid-19 transmission in our hospitals and wider Trust.
