Following the successful ballot for industrial action in England by the British Medical Association (BMA) union, we expect a number of our junior doctors to strike from Monday 13 March at 06.59 to Thursday 16 March at 06.59.
We are taking steps to prioritise and maintain safe and effective services for our inpatients, those needing urgent and emergency care (medical and surgical) and those receiving cancer treatment.
Unfortunately, this does mean we will need to reschedule some non-urgent operations, treatments and outpatient appointments to accommodate those patients with the most urgent clinical need.
Please continue to attend appointments unless you are contacted and told otherwise.
Our teams continue to work exceptionally hard and we would like to reassure our patients that essential services remain open so if you require urgent medical help, please continue to come forward. These services include our Minor Injuries Unit at Haslemere Hospital which is open all week (Mon-Sun) from 8am-5pm.
You can help us manage during this challenging period by making sure you are seeking help from the most appropriate health services and only attending A&E for serious accidents and emergencies. If you are unwell, visit NHS 111 online for 24/7 advice about the most appropriate care for your needs or call NHS 111. Please remember that pharmacies will also be open as usual and are able to provide expert advice.
