Congratulations to our Practice Development Team who have been awarded the National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark. This is in recognition of their work to bring preceptorship in line with the new NHSE framework standards.
Preceptorship is as a year-long period of transition for newly registered professionals, during which time they are supported by a preceptor. Preceptors are staff members who provide support and guidance to newly registered nurses, midwives and operating department practitioners during their preceptorship year.
The award recognises in particular the hard work of the team to raise preceptor standards through the development of a charter, online training modules and plans for a support group for preceptors which is coming soon to Loop, our new e-rostering app.
Since the launch of the new preceptor standards in July, 57 preceptors have completed the training and are supporting up to 140 newly registered international and UK trained colleagues.
The Trust is committed to the development and support of newly registered professionals and recognises the importance of a safe and successful transition into the new role to support staff wellbeing and retention.
