Woking Public - Marco Cinnirella

It is an honour to represent my home town of Woking, where I have lived for over 20 years. My family and I have used a diverse range of the services provided by the Royal Surrey County Hospital and I embrace this opportunity to give back to the Trust through working as an elected governor. My work as an applied psychologist (I am currently a Professor at Royal Holloway) has given me an opportunity to work in multi-disciplinary teams in healthcare settings, where I have been involved in a range of research projects exploring aspects of health beliefs and behaviours and I hope to put this experience to good use during my term as governor. During my career as a psychologist I have worked in an advisory role with a diverse range of public bodies including the Home Office, Department of Health and United Nations. I am particularly interested in the patient experience and how new digital technologies can enhance this. Furthermore, representing a diverse constituency like Woking, I hope to ensure that all communities have a voice as patients. This fits in well with my extensive portfolio of research and consultancy on diversity issues for both public and private sector bodies. Some of my recent research explores public responses to Covid-19 and I hope to also put this experience to use assisting the Trust with the challenges presented by the ongoing pandemic.
