Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer, after a robust and competitive recruitment process.
Matt Jarratt is moving into the role after a successful three years at Royal Surrey working as Associate Director of Operations (ADO) for Access & Medicine and Community.
Matt has held a distinguished career in NHS operational management. He joined Royal Surrey as ADO for Access and Medicine in June 2019, coming from St George’s Hospital, London. As well as his experience in an acute setting, Matt has previously held a Board level position at CSH Surrey, the North West Surrey community service provider.
Speaking about his new role Matt said:
“I feel proud and excited to be offered this incredible opportunity at Royal Surrey, which is a truly special place to work. Throughout my time here, I have been impressed by the wealth of expertise of my colleagues and have seen how passionate and devoted our teams are, putting patient care at the heart of everything they do.”
Royal Surrey’s Chief Executive, Louise Stead said:
“The Chief Operating Officer role is absolutely crucial to the smooth running of the Trust, particularly in the context of Covid and the operational challenges that come with it. Matt has a wealth of experience in operational management, including at Board level – I know he will continue driving us forward to do the very best for our patients.”
Matt steps into the role covered on an interim basis by the Trust’s Director of Transformation, Nick Sands, after the previous Chief Operating Officer, Bob Peet, retired in November 2021.
