Welcoming cohort 43 of our overseas staff

Overseas staff from Philippines and India cohort 43

Although our new overseas staff flying in from India and the Philippines were arriving to a chilly Guildford day, they received a very warm Royal Surrey welcome on Friday.

Our 43rd cohort of overseas staff include two radiographers and 17 nurses. They were greeted by Tom White, Head of HR, Maria Chambers, International Resourcing Advisor, Ric Ellis Resourcing Operations Manager and Venson Nuevas from Practice Development who will be leading on the TOC programme. Staff from previous overseas cohorts were also part of the welcoming committee, as well colleagues from Communications and Accommodation.

Ed Mikhail Jover, who is joining us from the Philippines said: “My feelings are quite mixed – sad because I’m going to miss my loved ones but also excited to start on this next chapter of my nursing career here at Royal Surrey.”

Carl Candela, who arrived from the Philippines in June this year was on hand at the Trust’s social club to greet the newcomers. He said: “I really wanted to come and welcome the new cohort because I can remember how overwhelming it felt when I arrived. It was the first time I’d done any international travel but I felt so reassured when I toured the hospital and saw lots of other staff from the Philippines, it made me feel more at home.”

Our Cohort 44 is due to arrive on 8 December.
