Water supply to our hospitals

Last updated 8 November 2023: The declared major incident in our region has now been stepped down.

We are part of a declared major incident in the region caused by a water supply issue that is affecting our Guildford and Milford sites. We want to assure patients and their loved ones that we are receiving a continuous water supply and are able to provide safe, effective care. Our Emergency Department (A&E) remains open. Please continue to come forward for the care you need.

Thames Water is working with us to secure continuous water supply to our hospital sites via water tankers.

Find out how this is affecting our patient services:

Emergency Department

Our Emergency Department (A&E) is open as usual, including the water facilities (updated 6 November at 4.30pm).

It is important that patients who need urgent medical care continue to come forward as normal, especially in emergencies and life-threatening case. If you are unwell, use NHS 111 online for 24/7 advice about the most appropriate care for your needs, or call 111.

Inpatient wards

Our inpatients ward facilities across all our sites are running as usual.

Outpatient appointments

Please continue to attend your outpatient appointment, including at our maternity hubs.

Minor Injuries Unit (Haslemere)

Our Minor Injuries Unit is unaffected by the water supply issue and is open as usual, seven days a week, 8am-5pm. You do not need an appointment and can receive treatment for:

·       wounds – cuts, bruises and grazes

·       minor burns

·       suspected broken bones, strains, and sprains

·       minor eye injuries

·       minor head injuries (with no loss of consciousness)

·       removal of foreign bodies from ears, eyes or nose or from under the skin (splinters)

·       bites and stings
