A pioneering artificial intelligence-led cancer treatment and a £6.2m project to expand and modernise its cancer day unit were among Royal Surrey’s best moments 2021-22 shared at the Trust’s Annual Members’ Meeting 2022.
Highlights also showcased a new Frailty Same Day Emergency Care Facility helping people living with frailty to get the right care more quickly, plans for a new £25m cancer and surgical innovation centre, and £1m funding for a state-of-the-art clinical research facility.
At the event, Chief Executive Louise Stead reflected on the challenging circumstances the Trust faced in 2021-22 and that, despite these, it made great strides in so many areas. She said:
“Thank you to our incredible workforce, whose professionalism and dedication impresses me every day.”
Louise also thanked partners, patients and members of the local community for their support.
The Annual Members’ Meeting took place on Thursday 8 September. As well as highlights from the previous year, the Chair of Council, Chief Executive and other members of the leadership team discussed the Trust’s finances and performance.
Sadly, towards the end of the meeting the news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen came in. We announced this to those in attendance, held a minute’s silence together and then paused the meeting to enable some time for reflection and for those who wished to leave the meeting to do so.
The presentation and videos are available on the Royal Surrey website.
