Team of the Week and Frontline Feature - Point of Care Testing Team
Our Team of the Week this week and our frontline feature is our brilliant Point of Care Testing (POCT) Team.
POCT is essentially diagnostic testing done as close to the current site of the patient as possible; the result can lead to a change in the care of the patient.
The response to the current Covid-19 pandemic by the team has been outstanding. They have prolonged their availability extensively to 7am-7pm Monday – Friday, plus all day at weekends/public holidays, as well as offering an on call service.
Furthermore, they have sourced new blood gas analysers, moved kit around the hospital at a moments notice and are currently providing kit and training staff at Milford hospital.
Although only a small team our POCT team have gone above and beyond and continue to do so.
