Strutting their stuff: Cancer patients take to the runway

Brave cancer patients will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk to raise money for charity.

Around 20 cancer patients receiving treatment at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust will be taking to the runway to raise much needed funds for the Fountain Centre.  The small independent charity is based at the Guildford hospital and supports those living with cancer by offering complementary therapies, counselling, information and support to patients and their families from Surrey and the surrounding areas.

The models will be showcasing the latest collections from Marks and Spencer during the event which takes place at The Mandolay Hotel, Guildford, on Saturday 15 October.

One of the models taking part is Samantha. She said: “The Fountain Centre has helped me through my treatment and even though I am terrified about doing this fashion show, it is an absolute pleasure to be able to give something back.”

Susan Jordan, fundraising and events lead, said: “Being diagnosed with cancer is a challenging time for all involved and it can affect every aspect of a patient’s life.  The fashion show is an incredibly uplifting event and is a key part of our fundraising calendar.  We are delighted to see it return after having to cancel our last show in March 2020 due to the pandemic.  Our brave models would love it if you would come out and support them.”

Tickets for the fashion show are priced at £20 and include a welcome drink. They are available from www.thelittleboxoffice.com/fountaincentre or call 01483 406619.
