On Wednesday 1st March Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust welcomes Joss Bigmore as the new Chair.
Until October, Joss was Leader of Guildford Borough Council. He is currently Deputy Leader with responsibility for Finance and Planning Policy, having previously led on Governance. Prior to this he was a Managing Director of an Investment Bank trading Equity Derivatives, and also has experience investing in early stage companies.
Joss will replace Sue Sjuve, who completed her second term of three years yesterday and is moving on after six years of dedicated service to Royal Surrey.
Chief Executive, Louise Stead, said: “We are delighted to welcome Joss to his new post. When we undertook the recruitment process in December there was universal agreement he was an exceptional candidate. The recruitment panel were particularly impressed with his experience in collaboration, gained with the local authority, and the benefit this will bring as we develop closer ties with Surrey Heartlands and our neighbouring providers and partners.
On behalf of all Royal Surrey colleagues I would like to thank Sue for her exceptional service. She leaves with our enormous gratitude and heartfelt thanks for everything she has done – particularly her steadfast and reliable leadership through the Covid pandemic. We wish her all the very best for her future endeavours.”
New Chair, Joss Bigmore, said: “‘I am very pleased to be joining the Royal Surrey and have already spent some time in the Trust in recent weeks meeting new colleagues and receiving a warm welcome. Particular thanks to Sue Sjuve for providing such a detailed handover and helping me to get to trips with the various elements and responsibilities of the role. The chance to try and help the Trust face the challenges of the future and utilise the connections I’ve made through my time at Guildford Borough Council is exciting. I am delighted to be here and get started.”
