Back in August, we told you that Lindsey Allan, a Macmillan Oncology Dietitian at our trust had been shortlisted for the Chief Allied Health Professions Officers Awards in the Research Impact category. Well, she’s only gone and won it!
The awards promote the adoption and dissemination of good practice being delivered by Allied Health Professionals (AHPs). The Research Impact Award focuses on the contribution of AHPs in developing, leading or supporting research in health, social care and public health and the impact this has.
The awards ceremony was held virtually on 10 October and the judges explained why she was chosen as the winner: "Lindsey won because of the rigour within the research approach and the demonstrable impact through the patient information leaflet, which has been adopted by 50 trusts. So, a fantastic piece of research demonstrated."
Lindsey said: “Personally, I am very proud to have received this award - it is the first trial looking into the dietary management of malignant bowel obstruction and although there is a lot more work to be done, the results demonstrate that the four step diet can reduce symptoms, hospital admissions and improve quality of life.” Congratulations Lindsey!
