This week we have wished our final year nursing students well as they conclude their Registered Nurse Degree.
The Cohort, who are all studying at the University of Surrey, started their studies in September 2019 just before the pandemic began. The pandemic had a massive impact on both their academic and practice journey. Many joined our Staff Bank as Healthcare Assistants to help care for our patients at this challenging time while the NMC paused junior student placements.
Some students will be moving on to different trusts across the country, whereas many will be continuing their careers with us. Alex, who will be joining our community team, said: “To me, the Royal Surrey feels like a little village, everyone knows everyone, which made me feel safe as a student.”
Jo Mountjoy, Chief Nurse said: “It’s an amazing achievement to qualify as a Registered Nurse and having the majority of your training all within a pandemic shows the resilience, hard work and commitment to the professional and their own personal development. Huge congratulations to them all and the best of luck for their onward careers. Thank you to our Learning Environment Lead, Sally Whitehouse, Practice Development Sister, Victoria Wilding and all the clinical staff for all the support and hard they give all the students.”
