Colleagues at the Bowel Cancer Screening South of England Hub welcomed a group of Taiwanese delegates for a tour of the hub on Tuesday.
The 29 delegates were part of a Changua County Smart Health Tour and included a government minister from Changhua City in Taiwan.
Sally Benton, Consultant Biochemist and Director of the Bowel Cancer Screening Hub and Tina Cook, Deputy Hub Manager, delivered a short presentation, followed by a tour of the screening laboratories and call centre, answering questions along the way.
Professor Amy Yen from Taiwei Medical University commented that alongside the tour, the delegates were keen to exchange ideas. She said: “You have significant experience in stool-based screening, while in Changhua, the government leads community-based screening programs that also integrate other disease screenings. We would like to share our experience with the two-in-one screening for colorectal and gastric cancer using stool samples, which we have implemented in Changhua. It’s very exciting to have this opportunity for collaboration and knowledge exchange.”
