A sparkling farewell to Claire Palles Clarke

We are saying a sad farewell to Claire Palles Clarke, Lead Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Nurse, who will be leaving the Trust on 22 December.

Claire has made an immense and immeasurable contribution to St Luke’s Cancer Centre and the field of cancer nursing throughout her career.

Having joined St Luke’s over 20 years ago, she has been involved with nurse-led services, research nursing, chemotherapy services and cancer education at the University of Surrey. She has also delivered the Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) cancer services.

Vicki Mumford, Macmillan Oncology Divisional Head of Nursing, said: “Claire will be greatly missed across the hospital for her wise advice, kindness, care and compassion for patients and staff and for her commitment to all services.”

In the last few years, Claire has focused on the TYA service to care for teenage patients and those under 30.

Her commitment to cancer nursing will leave a legacy as she moves on in retirement. We wish Claire the best of luck as she heads off to pursue her love of travelling.
