Today, Sunday 4 July, is National Thank You Day for NHS staff and essential workers who have faced an extremely challenging year.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic hospitals across the country have cared for around 400,000 seriously ill Covid-19 patients, including more than 100,000 admitted in January alone.
At the same time the NHS has rolled out the biggest vaccination programme in its history. Royal Surrey played its part, as one of the first 50 vaccination hubs.
Royal Surrey could not have achieved all this without the skill and dedication of our people, former colleagues who returned to practice and our volunteers.
The National Thank You Day offers us the chance to say a Big Thank You not just to our staff, but also to the community who have supported us.
Elaine Kavanagh, Senior Sister on Guildford Ward said: “To mark the 73rd birthday of our wonderful NHS, we would like to send a big thank you message to Royal Surrey’s local community and brilliant supporters.
“During the pandemic, the generosity of the community has been overwhelming. The donations and love have been immense. We’ve received colourful new scrubs, wonderful cakes, treats and fantastic gifts.
“The smallest of treats brought the biggest of smiles to our faces, giving moments of respite in very challenging times.
“Your appreciation and support has really kept us going, so thank you from all of us at Royal Surrey.”
