Liz Adams - Head of Radiotherapy Physics

  Liz Adams

Liz Adams has been with the Trust for 14 years. She is the Head of Radiotherapy Physics, leading an important team who work behind the scenes to ensure the precision and accuracy of our treatments.

“We may not see in person the 3,500 patients who come to Royal Surrey for radiotherapy each year, but we have had a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of every single one of those treatments.

“We generate highly complex, individualised treatment plans for both radiotherapy and brachytherapy treatments, and offer scientific support to our colleagues in Radiotherapy throughout the patient pathway.

“We are also responsible for ensuring that equipment used in radiotherapy is calibrated precisely and quality assured for safe operation, and for developing and implementing new techniques and technologies.

“I enjoy the role of a Clinical Scientist because it combines clinical work, research and development, allowing me to use my scientific and problem-solving skills to make a difference to patient treatment.

“Why do I love working here?  Because we work together to aim high and strive to provide the very best treatment possible for our patients. I am proud to be one of only two trusts in the country to be able to offer CT-based daily online adaptive radiotherapy on our latest state-of-the-art machine, installed during the pandemic.”
