“Radiotherapy back in ‘yesteryear’ was different. Treatments were less complicated, which in many ways made it easier to deliver, and there were less patients to look after. We are much busier now.
“I have always loved working at St Luke’s. I am an innovative person with a passion for science and my roles have fuelled my interest. I have mainly been involved in reviewing patient care and service delivery, driving developments and promoting ongoing advances in radiotherapy treatments.
“When I came back to St Luke’s in 2002, I noticed how technology had advanced the delivery of radiotherapy. Software programs and cutting-edge radiotherapy equipment meant complex treatments could be delivered with more accuracy. The World Wide Web gave patients access to treatment information and digital imaging replaced processing film in cassettes. Today, St Luke’s is at the forefront of driving technology delivering complex personal treatments using artificial intelligence.
“St Luke’s is like a family who support and understand the individual. The communication between different specialties and professionals has contributed to greater inclusion. Unquestionably, it is the wonderful patients who make this place extra special!”
