His team provides scientific support to the Nuclear Medicine Department based in St Luke’s Cancer Centre. Their role is to ensure scans, which use low levels of radiation to pick up cancer, are performed safely and optimally. They also run the Molecular Radiotherapy service, which uses radioactive drugs to treat a range of different cancers.
“At St Luke’s we have some of the most advanced Nuclear Medicine imaging equipment available, deliver a wide range of Molecular Radiotherapy procedures, and offer new treatments to patients as part of clinical trials.
“It makes me proud that our local patients can access these cutting-edge services at their local hospital.”
James explained that the team are based within St Luke’s itself, which allows them to work closely with clinicians and patients.
“Our team of physicists thrive on working hands-on delivering patient care and ensuring we deliver an efficient service. As a result of this, over the years, we have built up a team of highly skilled, compassionate, patient-focused physicists who are an absolute joy to work with.”
