Dr Russell completed medical studies at the University of Bristol in 2013, with medical and surgical attachments completed in London, before entering Clinical Radiology training in 2016 at the Royal Free Hospital.

He entered sub-speciality training in breast and gynaecological/GU imaging at Imperial College London in 2019, before completing a fellowship at Vancouver General Hospital in Canada.

In 2022 Dr Russell was appointed as a consultant at both the Royal Surrey and the Jarvis Centre and is part of the breast screening and symptomatic MDTs (multidisciplinary teams). He also performs and reports general radiology studies including body CT/MRI and ultrasound at the Royal Surrey.
