Dr Matthew Evans graduated from UCL Medical School in 2010, obtaining both an Intercalated BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology in addition to his MBBS. He then completed Foundation Training in the South Thames Foundation School before entering Anaesthetics training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery.

Dr Evans undertook several additional Fellowships and Advanced Training Modules including Simulation at RSFT, Upper GI and HPB Anaesthesia at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Obstetric Anaesthesia at St George’s Hospital and Liver Transplant Anaesthesia at King’s College Hospital. During this time, he also completed a PG Cert in Perioperative Medicine at UCL.

Throughout his training and after his appointment, Dr Evans has been heavily involved in clinical research. He has been the Principal Investigator for a number of national studies including PQIP, VITAL and PANDOS. He is also the co-lead for the Research arm of the RSCH GPC Hub.

Dr Evans is the Anaesthetic Lead for the RSFT CEPOD theatre and helps to run the High-Risk Obstetric Anaesthesia Clinic. He is also an Educational Supervisor for several Anaesthetic trainees.

Beyond medicine, Dr Evans maintains a good work/life balance, combining time with his young family and enjoying the outside activities that the area has to offer including cycling, running and outdoor swimming.
