Dr Mathers qualified from St. George’s Hospital Medical School in 2006. In 2008 he started his Anaesthetic training in the KSS Deanery, rotating through Maidstone, Brighton, Chichester and Worthing Hospitals, before undertaking Specialist Training in Liver Transplant at King’s College Hospital and Airway at Queen Victoria Hospital.
He undertook an 18-month Fellowship in High-Risk Anaesthesia at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust prior to taking up his Consultancy there in 2017. Dr Mathers’ theatre commitments are based around Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary, Oesophago-Gastric, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Trauma/Orthopaedics.
Dr Mathers is a member of the High-Risk Anaesthetic Team, involved in the assessment, investigation and optimisation of patients ahead of their surgery.
Dr Mathers is the College Tutor for Anaesthetic trainees rotating through Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and is a Royal College of Anaesthetists Examiner for the Final FRCA.
