Dr Matthew Berry graduated from the University of Nottingham Medical School in 1996. His Core Anaesthetic Training was initially in the Nottingham Deanery then at Guys and St Thomas Hospitals. His Higher Anaesthetic Training occurred in the North Central London Deanery. During his higher training, he did a fellowship in Obstetric Anaesthesia and spent six months at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Dr Berry has worked at the Royal Surrey as a Consultant Anaesthetist since 2007. Since his appointment, Dr Berry has held roles as lead for Orthopaedic Anaesthesia, Paediatric Anaesthesia and Anaesthetic Clinical Lead. He has also been an Educational Supervisor for six years, a College Tutor for five years and is currently the Training Programme Director for Higher Anaesthetic Trainees in Surrey.
