Qualifications: MBBS, FRCA, MD (Res)
Dr Huddart qualified in Medicine from Guy’s, Kings’ and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2002. After completing pre-registration House Officer posts in Brighton and Cornwall he completed posts in Acute specialties (Emergency Medicine, Medicine, Surgery and Intensive Care) in New Zealand and several hospitals in the South East of England.
He began Anaesthetic training in 2006 in Chelmsford, and continued his training at numerous hospitals throughout South West London and Surrey. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2009, completed his Anaesthetic training in 2015 and has been a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust since then. He has completed Fellowships in Anaesthesia for Major Cancer Surgery, Cardio-Pulmonary Exercise Testing and Peri-Operative Management of Major Emergency Abdominal Surgery.
He was awarded a MD (Res) from the University of Surrey in 2018 for his work on improving outcomes and quality of care for patients undergoing major emergency abdominal surgery. He has published on several subjects including pain management after surgery, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (and its use for risk assessment before major surgery) and healthcare quality improvement for emergency abdominal surgery. He regularly lectures at National courses and conferences.
He has been Lead for patient safety in theatres from 2016 to 2024. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is an Appraiser and Educational Supervisor
