Dr McConkey was appointed as a consultant cardiologist in 2023 and has a specialist interest in the diagnosis, management and treatment of valvular heart disease, and coronary artery disease. She carries out transcatheter aortic valve implantation at St George’s Hospital and coronary angioplasty at Frimley Park Hospital, where she also contributes to the 24/7 heart attack service.

She graduated from Cambridge University and Guys, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School and completed her cardiology training in the Oxford Deanery in 2022. In 2016, she was granted a prestigious BHF Clinical Research Training Fellowship for her research into paradoxical low-gradient aortic stenosis at King’s College London based at St Thomas Hospital, for which she was awarded a PhD in 2020.

Dr McConkey has published widely throughout her training and is also accredited in transthoracic echocardiography with the British Society of Echocardiography, and in cardiac MRI with SCMR. She was selected for and participated on the British Cardiovascular Society Emerging Leaders Programme 2022-2023. Dr McConkey is a keen advocate for patient safety and medical education and is an Adult Life Support Resuscitation Council instructor.
