“Nursing, for me is a noble job, it’s not all learnt - it’s about who you are as a person and comes from within.
“Quality, patient-centred care is very important to me. As a Sister, I consider myself to be a role model to my colleagues, there to help them on their shifts and help deliver the best patient care together.
“I came here from the Philippines in 2002, initially working in the elderly ward. After promotion, I joined oncology in 2009 and have been working in that area of nursing since.
“In Onslow we administer chemotherapy for those needing it as an in-patient. We also care for patients with symptoms related to cancer or the effects of treatment and those who are at the end of their life. I am passionate about it because I feel I make an impact on the daily lives of our patients. Even for a short while, I’ve made a big difference to their cancer journey.
“I have stayed here for 20 years because I feel valued and supported by very good managers. Oncology is really complex work but I’ve never felt alone. The team I work with, inspire me every day. To say they are nice is an understatement. They really love their job and are kind to the patients, going out of their way to help people in our care.
“Guildford and the Royal Surrey is home for me now and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.”
